Step 6: Initial User Testing

This is the initial user testing script, followed by the notes recieved after watching users test my UX Pin wirefram for desktop & mobile.




DESKTOP SCRIPT

1.You are planning for your junior year as a CD student; you decided not to move forward with the advertising concentration. Starting from the homepage, drop Advertising 2 from your schedule.

2. You have Advanced Typography in your tentative schedule/cart. Starting from the homepage, enroll in Advanced Typography.

3. It is the day before the semester begins; you want to review your schedule so you know where to go tomorrow. Starting on the homepage, go to your account and view your schedule.

4. You need to take 2D Design, but you only have an opening from 8am – 11am on MWF. Starting from the homepage, add a section of 2D Design (ART 31VL) to your schedule from the course catalog, using the alphabetical search option.

5. You still need 1 more writing intensive class, you can only take one during the afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday. Starting from the homepage, add a writing intensive class to your shopping cart.

6. Starting from the homepage, change the semester and browse the course catalog for spring semester 2018.

7. You don’t remember what your final grade in your speech class was. Starting from the homepage, check what grade you got in that class.



MOBILE SCRIPT

1. It is your time to enroll in classes, you are on the go and aren’t able to sit down at your laptop. Starting from the homepage and not leaving it, enroll in all of the classes in your cart.

2. You are checking to make sure you will graduate on time, but you cant remember if you took a math class or not. Starting from the homepage, see if you have met the requirements for your math class. If not, add it to your cart

3. You aren’t sure if you can take 2D Design (ART 31VL) at 12pm on TTH. Starting from the homepage, see if it is possible.



NOTES ON INITIAL TESTING

- NAV was broken on homepage of mobile
- The 3rd mobile question is confusing – needs re-worded
- Add check boxes to the list of classes on homepage so it shows that you can check the box.
- Home button is broken on most desktop pages
- Question 5 is confusing, should state to use the filter option
- User didn’t use the enroll all button - make it more noticeable
- Questions are too long
- The homepage says “MY CART” should say “STUDENT CENTER”
- Question 4 was to lengthy, forgot information
- Confused how to drop a class
- On mobile nav is broken on the account page and the requirements page
- One student didn’t use the “ENROLL ALL” button
