Annuals

An annual is defined as a plant whose entire life cycle occurs during one growing season. These plants typically provide season-long color with brilliantly colored foliage or blooms. Annuals should be planted after the danger of frost has passed to ensure a long, summer display of vibrant - often exotic blooms.

Perennials

Perennials are one of the most desirable plants in a landscape because they do not need to be planted every single year. In fact, as the years go by perennials grow larger and provide more abundant blooms. Perennials come in a wide variety of colors and textures – and are often grown not just for their flowers but for their gorgeous foliage as well.

Shrubs

Shrubs play so many roles in our landscapes. They are used to create privacy, to hide unsightly views such as a generator or air conditioning unit and they help block wind and snow. They add height to a garden and dimension to the landscape. Many varieties flower and some are even fragrant. Deciduous shrubs lose their leaves with the onset of autumn, while evergreen shrubs provide visual interest even in the doldrums of winter. From barberry to boxwood, lilac to rhododendron and everything in between – we carry shrubs to fit every gardener’s need!

Trees

Trees are an often-overlooked aspect of our properties. They serve so many purposes. Choosing the correct one for your site is something we would love to help you with. Trees provide shade and respite from the hot summer sun. A properly placed shade tree can cut down on cooling costs in the summer – while also reducing heating cost in the winter. A stand of trees can act as a wind break to re-direct snow drifts. One of the most common reasons for planting a tree is for the beauty it provides to our landscape. At Seasonal Nursery, we carry many varieties of trees. Whether you are looking for spring flowers, autumn color, winter interest or delicious fruit – we undoubtedly carry the perfect tree for your home. Nothing adds value to your home as easily and quickly as a newly planted tree!

Ornamental Grasses

When it comes to landscaping, grass no longer just refers to the lawns surrounding our homes and businesses. Grasses come in many sizes and forms – They can be upright, vase shaped or can even resemble a cascading fountain. Their height can range from barely a foot tall to over ten feet tall with their often feathery plumage rising even further above the grass blades. One of the reasons ornamental grasses are gaining in popularity is that they require very little maintenance. They are typically very drought tolerant and animal resistant plants that add a huge visual impact to the landscape. With the smallest amount of a breeze, grasses will add movement to your landscape and relax you as they sway in the wind. The only maintenance required with ornamental grasses is to chop them down to about 4-6” once a year – either in the Fall of in the early Spring. If left standing over the winter, grasses certainly add a punch to the baron winter landscape when their coppery tassels are covered in a little bit of ice and snow. And those coppery seeds are an excellent source of food for birds when other food sources are scarce. With their casual elegance and low maintenance, there is certainly a spot in your landscape for one of our ornamental grasses!
