Emmaus Bakery was conceived in 1934 by John Sadler, originally called Shadler’s Bakery. Some time after opening Mr. Shadler changed the name of the Bakery to Emmaus Bakery and continued to operate the bakery for 19 years.
Emmaus Bakery has been around since 1934 and had been owned and operated by the Zayaitz family since 1963, over 43 years. Then in March 2010 Rick Zayaitz sold the bakery to Rob Erdossy. Rob has worked in a bakery since he was 13 years old. His family has worked at Egypt Star Bakery since 1974. Rob started working on the cleanup crew at the bakery, and then progressed up to baker’s helper then up to the head bread mixer. Rob left the family business for 3 years and went to work in a chain supermarket as a bakery manager.
There he realized he would rather give his customers fresh-baked scratch made quality products, not production line frozen dough baked at a in store bakery. The opportunity arose for him to purchase the Emmaus Bakery and he did. Rick stayed with the bakery for a couple of months and taught Rob the Emmaus Bakery way to do things. Rob also kept the excellent staff that Rick had assembled. One of Rick’s helpers came back after completing his studies as Johnson and Wales culinary school and remains as a key part in keeping the high quality and great tasting products that people have known and love from Emmaus Bakery.
One of the best complements that Rob has received since purchasing the bakery was the owner might have changed but everything else has remained the same. Emmaus Bakery specializes in quality bakery products formulated from the best ingredients available in the marketplace. Our focus is to provide value along with quality where our customer receives the attention that he or she expects in an environment that will cater to their needs with attention to complete customer satisfaction. Emmaus Bakery makes home-style baking delights become wonderful memories
