Or pay it forward yourself, by doing acts of random kindness or by participating in Pay It Forward Day on April 28, 2016. Last year, people from 75 countries paid it forward. This year, the goal is 10 million acts of kindness around the world.

1. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line
2. Compliment the first three people you talk to today
3. Donate old towels to your local animal shelter
4. Surprise a neighbor with a meal or dessert
5. Leave a gas gift card at a gas pump
6. Give a kind server the biggest tip you can afford
7. Leave quarters at the laundromat
8. Take flowers to the nurses' station at your nearest hospital
9. Write a letter to someone who made a difference in your life
