Jamil and Marie Jarrah are the owners of Damascus Restaurant who
came to the united
states and bought the restaurant after years of living
in a small village called Mishtayeh in syria.
They ran this spot for 16 years. Their Appetizer selection is full of tongue twisting
dishes, if you are not familiar with the lingo. Damascus is a
family owned business
that serves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Cuisine
in a simple atmosphere that focuses on the
quality of the food
and pleasent dining experience
Damascus was one of three local restaurants featured
on an episode of "The Culinary Adventures of Baron Ambrosia"!
The show also visits Damascus Restaurant on Second Street
in Allentown. Ambrosia says he’d been searching for a Syrian restaurant,
like Damascus, that served raw kibbe — raw beef or lamb mixed
with bulgur wheat, onions and spices.
"I was blown away," he says. "It was love at first bite.
And they make their own cheese. It was so rich in tradition
it doesn't get much better than that."
