About Girl

Girl Skateboardswas born in 1993 by Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Spike Jonze and Megan Baltimore after Rick and Mike felt World Industries was only in it for the money and was lying to it's riders about royalties. Girl quickly brought in Andy Jenkins whose artistic direction of the brand defined the brand through art and humor, especially in videos.

The Chocolate brand was introduced as the growth of Girl inspired the creation of another brand and hiring new skaters. Lakai was founded in 1999 when both Carroll and Howard decided that they wanted to make a contribution to the skate footwear industry by founding their own company rather than just being sponsored.
