Rentana Documentation Site
Ted Strohler
The assignment was to create a unique app that offers something different from all other apps like it. Rentana is an app that lets you rent items from other users in your area. If you happen to like your item more that you expected, you can offer the renter a buy now price so that you can keep it forever.
Step 1: Research and Planning
Process Flow
The first step was to create a process flow for the navigation of my app and how the user with determine where to go.

Personas
I had to determine the target audience for Rentana. These scenerios were determined before thinking about any type of design. Their purpose is to determine the actions that are able to be performed by the app.

Step 2: Wireframes
Rough Sketches
The first step in wireframing is always rough sketches with paper and pencil. This makes is way easier to revise and add in new ideas.
Step 3: UxPin
Clickable Prototypes
After sketching out each page and critiquing them in class, I digitized them using UxPin. After creating each page I made it clickable and functional.

Step 4: Mockups
Photoshop Mockups
I created mockups of each page in Photoshop of how I wanted each to be designed. Each page was imported to InVision to make them clickable after being designed in Photoshop.

Step 5: Invision
Designed, Clickable Prototypes
Using Invision, the task was to take our Photoshop mockups and import them to form a clickable prototype that was also designed. This gave the illusion of an actual coded website in a way.

Step 6: User Testing
Many Rounds of User Testing
After many rounds of user testing, I found that a lot of mistakes were repeating themselves. throughout the various tests inbetween revisions, there were very important process remaining unclear. These problems I chose to fix right away. There were other Minor problems as well but some only happened to one or two people and I did not feel that they were as big of probelsm as others so they may have gotten pushed aside until the end. Below is my script scenerios followed by the most common issues.
- 1. You are new to Rentana, register to make an account and start lending.
- 2. Your Psychology professor assigned reading for homework and you never bought the book, rent it from someone.
- 3. You are curious what the first item you ever rented was.
- 3. You realized you may need that psych book again, offer a buy now price to the renter so you can keep it.
- 4. Your band just got back from tour, list your amp for rent with a buy now price.
- 5. Yo have a meet-up today that you can no longer make it to. Cancel it.
- 6. You care about what people think of you, so check your reviews.
- 7. You just found out you can use Paypal through Rentana, link your account.
