1. Woodhull Medical Center
In 1986 Keith Haring completed a 700-foot-long mural in the course of one week in the lobby of the Woodhull Medical Center. He gifted this mural to the medical center as a thank you for their dedication to pediatric AIDs research and treatment.
2. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center
In 1989 Keith Haring was invited along with 50 other artists to paint the inside of the LGBTQ center. He was given full access to the second floor men’s restroom which he painted and then named “Once Upon a Time”.
3. Carmine Street Pool
In 1987 Keith Haring painted mermaids, dolphins and other aquatic creatures on the wall that connects the James J. Walker handball court and the west village pool. It was then updated in 1995 by the Keith Haring Foundation.
4. Crack Is Wack Playground
In 1986 Keith Haring painted this mural in response to his studio assistant Benny addicted to crack and unable to get proper help without proper health insurance. He was then arrested but then walked away with no jail time, only a $100 fine and a slap on the wrist, due to the publicity him, the mural and the crisis then received.
5. The Cathedral Church Of St. John The Divine
In 1990 Keith Haring carved this piece, this was one of 9 and was his last piece he created before his death. He carved these line drawings from a clay slab and a loop knife.
