THE 30%

Dispite the critical role that water has in our everyday lives it seems that we take it for granted, ignoreing the fact that a large portion of the world, over 30%, lives without access to running water or clean sanitation. With the goal of creating a world where clean water is avalible to everyone, Google has paird with Charity Water, a non profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, to visually show this crisis and support positive change in bringing the this dratic persentiage to zero.

Presented by Google in Partnership with Charity Water

650 million people in the world don't have access to safe water.

Almost 315,000 children under 5 die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by dirty water.

Access to clean water and sanitation keeps people healthy and out of hospital.

2.3 billion people don't have access to adequate sanitation.

Without clean water, sanitation and hygiene, a child's development and general well-being is threatened.

Access to water, toilets and hygiene must be recognized as a critical adaptation tool for communities to be resilient to climate change.

The 30% Challenge

Google and Charity water have paired up to challenge YOU to go a mere 24 hours without running water. Why? the hope is to connect with those less fortunate and better understand their daily struggle.

We Can Be The Generation To Change The World.

The 30% Challange Is Simple;
Go A Full 24 Hour Period Without Running Water.

-Use shut-off timers or on-off timers, if possible. Do not turn on sprinklers and leave for the day.

-Always turn taps off tightly so they do not drip.

When hand-washing dishes, never run water continuously. Wash dishes in a partially filled sink and then rinse them using the spray attachment on your tap.

-Use either low-flow shower heads or adjustable flow-reducer devices on your shower heads.

-You can reduce water usage by 40% to 50% by installing low-flush toilets.

-When brushing your teeth, turn the water off while you are actually brushing. Use short bursts of water for cleaning your brush.

-Minimize the amount of times you wash your car

-If you have an electric dishwasher, use it only to wash full loads, and use the shortest cycle possible. Many dishwashers have a conserver/water-miser cycle.

-Wash only full loads in your washing machine.
