MyKU Documentation Site
Ted Strohler
The assignment was to reevaluate and determine an overall better user experience for the MyKU site. The only portions that were needed to be covered were the tasks having to do with current classes and registration.
Step 1: Research and Planning
Process Flow
I had to determine the original process flow for MyKU. I found that it had very many redundant steps that had to be repeated for many different tasks.
Personas
I had to determine the target audience for MyKU and come up with slightly difficult scenerios that they would have in order to think of a new flow for my redesign.
Finding a Good Cart
I did some research to find a cart system that would work better than the one currently implemented on MyKU. I found to really like the look and functionality of a cart that slides over from the right hand side of the screen. I feel this would really enhance the MyKU system.
New Process Flow
I revised the old process flow for MyKU using my scenerios. I intended to make every scenerio possible and give MyKU an overall better user experince.
Step 2: Wireframes
Rough Sketches
The first step in wireframing is always rough sketches with paper and pencil. This makes is way easier to revise and add in new ideas.
Step 3: UxPin
Clickable Prototypes
After sketching out each page and critiquing them in class, I digitized them using UxPin. After creating each page I made it clickable and functional.

Step 4: Mockups
Photoshop Mockups
I created mockups of each page in Photoshop of how I wanted each to be designed. Both mobile and desktop were both imported to invsion to make them clickable after being designed.
Step 5: Invision
Designed, Clickable Prototypes
Using Invision, the task was to take our Photoshop mockups and import them to form a clickable prototype that was also designed. This gave the illusion of an actual coded website in a way.

Step 6: User Testing
Many Rounds of User Testing
After many rounds of user testing, I found that a lot of mistakes were repeating themselves. throughout the various tests inbetween revisions, there were very important process remaining unclear. These probelsm I chose to fix right away. There were other Minor problems as well but some only happened to one or two people and I did not feel that they were as big of probelsm as others so they may have gotten pushed aside until the end. Below is my script scenerios followed by the most common issues.
- – Your parents have been bugging you about your grades, rather than having them ask you, give them access to you MyKU account.
- – You plan on taking Graphic Design History B next semester, search for sections available and add it to your cart.
- – You have had enough of Intro to Health, drop this class from your current schedule.
- – Learn about Speech Communications through the course catalog and see if it may be something you are interested in.
- – Add Speech Communications to your planner from the course details page.
- – Through your planner, see the sections available for Speech and add one that fits to your cart.
- – You no longer want to take Speech, switch it with Visual Translation from your backups in your cart.
- – Your enrollment period is finally open, enroll in your classes.
