RPG Omnikit

OVERVIEW

There are a lot of natural flaws surrounding the basic concept of tabletop gaming. Players often get distracted when it is not their turn, forget the fourth wall, and the list goes on. The RPG Omnikit is designed to counteract these flaws and bring your Friday night D&D session to a whole new level!

PROCESS

As a fellow member of the nerd community, I am familiar with tabletop gaming. Sessions usually take more time the bigger your group is. Even the most simple of tasks could take hours. Distracted players ruin the flow of gameplay. The RPG Omnikit was created with these issues in mind. A character sheet is implemented because it is a rare event that everyone remembers to bring theirs to the session. Players can also discuss combat tactics amongst themselves, or shoot the GM a private message to steal something from another group member. Each player is able to keep their own notes during each session, and include other group members as well. More often than not, a rule needs to be confirmed during a session, which can be found in the resources section of the app.

TESTING

During this process, users were asked to complete basic tasks in the app. The majority of these users were not the target audience, which made testing challenging. Most of these tasks cater to someone who, at the very least, has played a tabletop game previously. Those who had previously participated in a tabletop game were eager to use the app and further confirmed the need for an app such as this.
