Arts Quest Website Redesign

By Melanie Edwards

Analysis

The Step by Step Process

1.

The first step of the process was to identify the problems of the original site. Some of the negative aspects of the original Arts Quest site were the long login process, separate description pages, and an antiquated filtering system. Other problems were as follows:

2.

The second step was to research similar websites that had well designed ticketing systems and identify why the systems worked

3.

The third step was to examine the target audience for the site and create personas based on the user traffic.

4.

The fourth step was to create a chart of the existing site to map out the ticket buying process.

Wire frame sketches

Next we needed to create rough wire frames of what the site would look like. These are loose and have no design elements but it allowed you to viually map out where key elements were and what different screens would lead to.

Digital Wire Frames

UX PIN is a professional app that allows you to create wireframes quickly, from basic shapes, and link them to different pages, mimicing a coded website. This stage brought our rough wire frames to life and allowed us to make more accurate choices on what was working, the sizing of elements and out loyouts. User testing was then done from writting steps that would ask the user to preform as task and we would monitor the users attempt, taking notes to make adjustments of where they failed.

Scenarios for User Testing

  1. 1. Find the class Film Appreciation with Tim M, book the class, email your ticket, pay for the class, confirm
  2. 2. Look for the event "Dogs on Ice" and add it to your cart. Now delete it from your cart.
  3. 3. Find events for people over the age of 21.
  4. 4. Sign into your account
  5. 5. Print out a previously purchased ticket
  6. 6. Email a ticket that you already bought to a friend
  7. 7. You"re interested in the class "Best Picture Winners with Lauren Tocci". Buy a ticket for Ron.
  8. 8. Sign in to your account on mobile.
  9. 9. Search for free events on mobile.
  10. 10. Send an already purchased ticket to your friend on mobile.

Issues from 2-20 User Testing:

  1. 1. Make event button bigger?
  2. 2. Have the event picture link to the pop-up info box
  3. 3. "Start a new search" link should link. Fix the key for seating chart. Wasn’t obvious
  4. 4. Allow 21+ to filter from the events page
  5. 5. Put the date in the filter section
  6. 6. Make a sold out event more obvious
  7. 7. Make "Login" disappear from page once logged in
  8. 8. OK
  9. 9. Make the "login" on the right side
  10. 10. Glitchy free filter. Add info about what filter is selected

Redesign

Next we brought our revised uxpin prototypes to life in illustrator. We knew that we were going to be using a program called Invision. This program could mock-up great prototypes from illustrator documents.
