Creative Code Soccer Game

Overview

The overview of the project was to create really anything we wanted using some form of creative code. I chose to use the kinect and base my game around motion sensoring. I used processing to create this game, as well as the kinect and a projector. The premise of my game is basically, you are the goalie and you have to try and stop the soccer balls from going into the net, as well as avoiding the knives being thrown around the game.

IDEAS

MYO band: Ninja game They have to find the missing pieces to a puzzle and have to be careful along the way, by using their weapons for help. Using the motion of the arm and maybe using the motion of your legs to make the ninja run or walk.
• Using software and processing • Interactive and physical • This is a unique concept because I would like to have not just the arms move but sense the motion of your legs as well. • How to use the MYO band, processing, software?

Kinect: Soccer game This game would be a soccer game that you are the goalie and you have to block the goals with your head or other parts of your body. Using the motion of your body from the Kinect. Soccer balls will come faster as the levels go.
• Use software for this • Physical • This is unique because I would like to use the whole body instead of just one moving part • How to use Kinect, making multiples body parts censored, processing, and using software.

Makey Makey: Piano This would be a piano made out of either colorful sand or playdoh. Plugging it into all of the colors would make all different types of sounds.
• Using processing • Interactive and Physical • This is unique because there is a lot of keys and a lot of colors that would have to be connected. • How to coordinate colors, processing, and shaping keys of piano

Final Concept & Timeline

My project is going to be a soccer game. The goal of this game is to try and stop the balls from going into the net. The user of this game will be the goalie, and soccer balls will be flying at the goalie at different directions of the screen and your goal is to stop the balls from going in to the net. Besides soccer balls there will be other objects being thrown towards the goal but those you want to dodge or you will lose a life. Their will be three lives in each round. You lose one by wither missing a ball or getting hit by an object. I will be using the Kinect, provided to help sensor the motion of the user going side to side. I am thinking their will be three levels and each level the balls come faster at you making it more difficult for you to save them. I am not sure if I am using processing or p5, I feel like p5 makes more sense for this type of game. I will have a projector from the ceiling to show the game at an easier angle.

Timeline: September 7th: start to develop wireframes.
September 12th: start designing the character of game
September 14th: Start to put the background of the game and all the 2d objects in p5 or processing
September 19th: By now should be finishing up coding in p5 or processing
September 21st: begin to explore motion censoring in the Kinect, and how that works
September 26th: keep messing around with Kinect and begin to use projector?
September 28th: hopefully have the Kinect figured out.
October 3rd: Run some tests of game using me or someone else
October 5th: fix problems of the game
October 10th: no class
October 12: test game one more time and fix problems over
weekend October 17th: turn in project!!!!

In conclusion, I think that my project turned out the way I had hoped. One thing I would like to fix is to make the ball hit his hands and not just his head. But overall I happy with it and definitely learned a lot of new things.
