Quake Lounge is more than a bar and casino. When you walk into Quake, you immediately feel as if you have stepped back in time. The bartender is dressed in a tuxedo, the bar stainless steel. The dark wood cabinetry behind the bar showcases the liquor on hand. The low lighting comes from chandeliers high above your head. The air is rife with the low murmur of voices against the backdrop of quiet music being performed live somewhere out of sight.
As you walk past the bar, you enter a staircase. Going down, there are more tables and chairs, but set for games: poker, blackjack, roulette, and craps table. Here is we see where the music is coming from: a baby grand piano is being played in the corner while an empty microphone stands to the side. The conversation here is a bit louder, though still muted. Everyone is dressed formally; the men in suits, some even in tuxedos, the woman in long gowns. Servers move around the tables, dropping off drinks and receiving tips. Weekends always involve a bit more noise; a live vocalist singing with the pianist and the whole place is packed. Quake is not for the average Joe, meandering down the street. This bar and casino takes forethought to frequent. There is an air of formality that accepts no nonsense. Open Wednesday through Sunday, five in the evening until two in the morning, the benefits of a night out at Quake are worth the effort. It might be just the experience of the atmosphere and it might be taking home some extra cash, but either way, something great is taken home each night.
